Back at L’Era d’es Mataret, a path leads up from the cliff edge to the Torre des Savinar, also known as ‘Pirate’s tower’, following a novel written by Vicente Blasco Ibáñez. At present it belongs to a privileged family from Sant Josep. The tower was finished in 1763 and it was designed to have a couple of cannons, but the heavy artillery never arrived, and it has been used at a watch point. Below, there is Cala d’Hort quarry, which provides a singular view too.
