From the far end of the beach of Platja d’en Bossa you can see Torre des Carregador, also in the Natural Park. It is one of the oldest watchtowers on both islands and it was built to protect the workers at the salt works from corsairs.
It was designed by the same engineer who designed the walled enclosure of Dalt Vila, Giovanni Batista Calvi, equipped with a weird feature, a chimney, which was a shelter too. It house up to 200 people, and the tower watchers worked in it until the end of 1867.
