For decades, María Cardona’s family run the bar of the salt-mine workers, located in front of Sant Francesc church. The salt works began to be done by machines, and little by little the customers flew away, until the establishment closed. In 1997 María decided to come back to her origins and transform her own house into the new ‘salt tavern’. María offers tapas, salads, quesadillas and sandwiches in her cottage. The tables are distributed around a luxuriant garden, from where an admirable sunset over the ponds is seen.
Our recommendations
San Francisco continues preparing the tasty ‘payes’ recipes, like the potato omelette, vegetable ‘cocas’ –similar to pizza- and excellent soft bread rolls with sobrasada filling. There is also marinated salmon in pink pepper, Gazpacho, home made hamburgers, salads and quesadillas.
