Santa Gertrudis still retains the special charm of a small place and it should also be included in every itinerary, not only because it is situated by a crossroads linking Ibiza with Sant Miquel and Sant Mateu, but also because you just cannot leave the island without eating one of the most delicious sandwiches of your lifetime, available in several different establishments in this village, summer and winter alike or without having dinner in some of the many restaurants that spread in its tiny streets. Many of them have charming terraces in romantic gardens. The boutiques stand out by their high quality, offering their own designs mostly.

The tobacconist and the grocery in the square are also worth visiting, as they haven’t been reformed.

Once there, you will see the church, inaugurated in 1797. The facade has been modified a number of times over the years, as in the case of the bell tower, which was installed in the nineteenth century. The main square is now a wide pedestrian space, especially pleasant for summer nights. You will notice that there is a bronze sculpture, made by artist Pedro Hormigo, depicting the first Bishop in Ibiza, Manuel Abad y Lasierra (1724-1806).
