In this small and cosy village there is a traditional love of wine. Every December they hold a wine festival, when hundreds of people from the island get together to taste the best red wines of Ibiza. The village is made up of a church and a couple of bars. The houses are scattered on the plain, next to the cellars Can Maymó and Sa Cova.
Pay a visit to Sant Mateu church -built at the end of the 18th century- which tells that the inhabitants of the village worked non-stop to finish their church before their neighbours in Santa Agnés, but the latter won because they cheated: they built the walls shorter. Take a look at the enormous old stones in nearby fields, and the village’s Via Crucis near the church.
From Sant Mateu to Santa Agnès, once overcome Can Pujolet hotel, you can visit Ses Torres d’En Lluc, an archaeological site with two old towers. They have got oval-shape floor and a piece of wall that historians claim to be of medieval times. They say that this wall used to be part of a mysterious fortification of greater size. The views of the coastline, overseeing Cala d’Albarca hill, is so wild and awesome.
