Ibiza’s Cathedral is situated in an extraordinary site and it has been chosen by different civilisations as a place of worship. It was built over an old Muslim mosque, which might have been built over the remains of a Roman temple that, in its turn, was most probably built over Punic constructions.

The works of the cathedral began in the 14th century, in Catalan gothic style, and it was finished in the 18th century. At present it accommodates the Diocesan Museum, which exhibits pieces of Majorcan craftsmanship of precious metals, old altarpieces and religious ornaments, and jewellery from Ibiza, among others.
